We with children, young people and communities and have learned what stands in the way of children’s rights and gender equality.

We understand how and when children’s rights are violated and girls are denied equality. We also understand the impact this has on their lives. This knowledge and experience puts us in a unique and powerful position to address the violations children face and to tackle the root causes of discrimination against girls, exclusion and vulnerability.

We are committed to children and young people living a life of equality, justice and dignity, and that the solutions we develop to support these are sustainable in the long-term. We do this by working in powerful partnerships to identify and tackle the underlying causes and consequences of poverty, exclusion and discrimination that stop them achieving their full potential.
We believe in the power of connections to advance children’s rights and gender equality. We know we are stronger when we work together in solid partnerships, sharing our knowledge, experiences and resources and facing our challenges as a single united front. Together we can advance children’s rights and gender equality further and faster, creating more opportunities for all children and ending the cycle of poverty.

Our work is linked to the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child, which spells out the human rights of all children, including the right to:

  1. Survive
  2. develop to the fullest
  3. be protected from harmful influences, abuse and exploitation
  4. participate fully in family, cultural and social life
