Giving mothers and babies a healthy start in life. The first years of a child’s life are the most critical – and dangerous. Despite remarkable progress in child survival, nearly 6 million children under age 5 still die each year, mostly from preventable or treatable causes like pneumonia, diarrhea and malaria. Thanks to you, we’re doing whatever it takes to ensure access to lifesaving health care, right from the start, so babies and their mothers can survive and thrive. Early Learners Building the foundation for success in school. All children deserve to grow and learn. Yet about half of young children around the world don’t have the chance to build the physical, intellectual, social and emotional skills that form the foundation for learning. Because of sponsors like you, girls and boys can have access to the early care and development they need, both at home and within their communities, so they’re ready to succeed in school and life. Successful Students Learning today for a better tomorrow. Every child deserves a quality education. But more than 50 million of the world’s children each year never even set foot in a classroom. And 130 million more still can’t read after years of schooling. Through school and community based reading, writing and math programs, you help us ensure children are in school, protected and learning – providing the best chance for a successful future. Healthy Girls and Boys Staying healthy to learn, learning to stay healthy. Children can’t reach their full potential if they’re not in school and learning. Yet millions of children each year are missing out on education due to preventable illnesses caused by unsafe water, poor sanitation and unhealthy diet. Thanks to sponsors like you, we’re addressing these barriers and teaching children lifelong health, hygiene and nutrition habits they can use in school and at home for years to come. Empowered Teens Building skills for a brighter future. Adolescence is a time of intense change, which shapes future opportunities. Without support, young people around the world can make decisions that will compromise their futures, like dropping out of school or becoming a teen parent. Because of your generosity, we’re able to help adolescents build lasting life and work skills, so they can positively transition to adulthood — building a brighter future for themselves and their communities. Innovation Spans across all programs. Sponsorship allows for development of interventions that best meet children’s needs.
Your sponsorship helps provide children with the necessities for a healthy and successful start to their life – nutrition, early childhood and adolescent development, education and school health. Your generosity also lifts entire communities. Our programs reach children’s parents, caregivers and community members. Together we help save children’s lives, protect them from exploitation and provide them with hope for the future.
You are encouraged – but not obliged – to build a friendship with your sponsored child. They are eager and excited to hear from you and about your life, and happy to share about theirs. Letters and drawings from your child will allow you to learn more about daily life in their own words and experiences. The letters are in your child’s own hand (a parent or sibling may help them if they are too young to write). A translation is provided by our field staff, if necessary. Their carefully drawn pictures and treasured words will enable you to share in the daily joys and struggles of your child’s life as they grow and prosper.
Will I sponsor an actual child? Yes. You have the opportunity to choose and sponsor a specific child (by region, District, gender and/or age) and to communicate with them if you choose. This allows you to connect with your sponsored child and to establish a friendship that will carry a special meaning for you both. How much is sponsorship? Sponsorship starts at $30 a month – less than a dollar a day. You will help change the lives of children in need around the world. If you can sponsor for $30 or more, or sponsor multiple children you can help us achieve even more. How will my sponsorship donation be used? We strive to create lasting change for your sponsored child and their community through programs that focus on early childhood development, health and nutrition, as well as primary education. Our experience has taught us that the most effective way to help children is by combining your sponsorship with those of other sponsors and donors – rather than just giving it directly to your sponsored child. This ensures that children in sponsorship communities, who may never have the opportunity to have a sponsor of their own, will still benefit from your support and our programs. Why should I sponsor with SCOEN? We’ve been successfully providing programs for children for now 5 years How long will my sponsorship last? Sponsorship is a voluntary, ongoing contribution. You decide how long you are able to help. Many sponsors have supported our work for over 5 years. Can I give a gift sponsorship? Yes. You are able to share the gift of sponsorship. You will be able to enter the gift recipient’s information on the enrollment form. Who can I contact if I have any questions? You may email us at email@example.com, or contact Us here. As a child sponsor, you are entitled to receive reports and letters
SCOEN is completely committed to conducting our programs in a manner that is both safe for the children we serve and to help protect the children with whom we and our sponsors are in contact with. As a humanitarian agency, we believe that all children have the right to live free of fear or impact of any form of abuse or exploitation. We are obliged to create and maintain an environment that aims to prevent these circumstances and promotes the implementation of our child safety policy. We are confident that our sponsors will join us in upholding this policy so that, together, we can do our best to ensure that the children we help remain safe. While the vast majority of individuals have good intentions, we must safeguard against the few who do not. We are sure you understand the need to protect the wellbeing of the children we support.
